Every car we finish gets shot on the shop floor under the light bar. It is the only proof that matters in this trade, and it is all in one place.
Single-stage lacquer, original chrome and interiors that are older than the shop.
Every correction starts with readings, and you get them in writing at handover.

A thick pH-neutral foam lifts pollen and road film so grit floats instead of grinding.

Fresh mitts, grit guards, straight-line passes, and separate tools for wheels and lower panels.

Deionised final rinse, forced air through the gaps, then plush towels and jamb wipes.
Add a machine polish, a coating or film and the car simply stays longer. We do not shorten the wash to make room.

1979
Henri Deveaux starts washing cars by hand in a rented carriage house with two buckets, a garden hose and a hand-lettered sign. Six cars a day, cash only, closed Sundays.
1988
The business moves into a four-bay building on Huger Street with a proper drain and covered space, which for the first time makes detailing possible in August.
1996
A Charleston collector asks whether we would look at a 1963 Corvette with faded single-stage paint. That car brought eleven more, and collector work has been part of the shop ever since.
2009
Marcus Deveaux buys the business from his father. The hand wash method stays exactly as it is. Paint correction equipment and a proper light bar arrive the same year.
2017
A dust-controlled bay is added for ceramic coating and paint protection film, so protection work no longer has to share space with the wash line.
2023
A self-contained van with filtered water and waste capture puts us in driveways from the Old Village to Sullivan's Island, and on fleet routes across the county.

Wash work keeps a car clean. Paint work makes it look right again. Specialty work is everything with an odd shape or an odd schedule.

My father bought that car new and I was terrified of what a machine polisher would do to it. They measured the paint, showed me the readings, and told me which scratches they would not touch. That honesty is why I keep coming back.

Nothing on this list is an upsell. It is what a hand wash means here, and it is why ours takes an hour rather than four minutes.

Membership
Pollen in spring, love bugs in September, salt all year. The cars that look best in this city are simply the ones that get washed on a schedule. Members keep the same slot, same crew, and pay about twenty percent less than single visits.
Gift certificates
Fixed amounts or a named service, emailed as a printable card or collected from the shop. They do not expire and they transfer to whoever ends up with the car, which happens more often than you would think.

Tunnel brushes and cloth strips carry grit from the car in front of you. That grit is what puts the fine circular scratches in your clear coat that show up under streetlights. Mitts and clean water do not do that.
Usually seven to ten days. Spring, which runs from the first pollen drop in February to about mid May, books out two to three weeks ahead.
Film stops physical damage such as rock chips. A coating resists chemical damage and makes washing easier. Commuters who cross the Ravenel every day get film on the front and a coating everywhere else.
Surface area and panel count drive the time. A three-row SUV has nearly twice the painted area of a coupe and takes proportionally longer at every stage.
It is a large part of what we do. Single-stage lacquer, chrome, original interiors and delicate trim all get a conservative approach, and we will happily do a test area and stop there if you prefer.
Shop work is indoors and runs regardless. Mobile visits are rescheduled to the next available slot at no charge if there is sustained rain.
